Do you know the fabric that they use on building sites?

Sometimes it’s netting

sometimes it’s plastic sheets it can be any colour

coffee, rust, sea green, coral

well, when it blows in the wind

undulating

like ripples after a pebble is thrown into a pond

it’s as beautiful as anything I’ve ever seen

and consistently so

you find it every now and again

unexpected

as you look through a steamed up bus window

that liminal space

where thoughts are often projected

or walk through streets, avoiding puddles

of mucky city water

a rinsing away

and you see the outstretched material

weightless, formless, shapeshifting

even in the rubble of our lives we can find it

it can find us

waving, beckoning, dancing

on a building that is in a process of changing

part way through so beautiful, although it shouldn’t be.
